Start Up Britain Answers from Experts & Dragons Den Style Pitch Up

The event was held at the PayPal offices in Richmond and was attended by entrepreneurial start-up businesses that had either entered the Dragons Den Style pitch, trying to win prizes worth over £2,000 or start-up businesses that wanted to get a greater understanding of the pitfalls they faced and so wanted to ask the panel of experts for their advice and recommendations.

The panel included, Kirsty, Joanna Tall, Founder of Off To See My Lawyer and Jo Sealy MD of the Marketing Agency to Market.

The morning began with an opening address by Zac Goldsmith, Local MP for Richmond who is also an advocate of local businesses and Start Up Britain.

It was then straight into the pitches where eleven businesses all pitched their business ideas to the panel of experts, all hoping they would be the lucky one.

Once everyone had had the opportunity to pitch a winner was chosen and that was Kim Villaweaver from Post Tea. Post Tea is a revolutionary gift idea where you can send a mug, mug hug (small wrap around blanket for your mug to help keep your tea warm) and a tea bag, all of this comes beautifully packaged.

Kim will now benefit from reduced PayPal business rates, business coaching sessions from CPG Executive Consulting Ltd and advice and assistance from Royal Mail on starting up a new business.

After the announcement of the winner it was over to the panel of experts. Questions were taken from the floor and passed to the relevant person on the panel. This was an extremely worthwhile session with interesting and thought provoking questions being asked.

Once all questions had been asked it was down to the real business of networking. Everyone had the opportunity to talk to each other and ask further questions or gain a greater understanding of answers already given. Business cards were exchanged and new business relationships formed, the feedback was that no one left empty handed!

This was an interesting and exciting venture for everyone involved but especially THP Ltd, we were very happy to be a part of the day and also to support Start Up Britain and local businesses on an on-going basis.

We also want to congratulate Kim on her well-deserved win and look forward to seeing more of Post Tea in the future.
