Accountant Chelmsford Essex

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join the team at our office in Chelmsford in Essex. Working closely with the local office Director, dealing with a varied client portfolio, you will be responsible for high level client service delivery on time and within budget. Successful candidates will be encouraged to further develop their skills in a well-established and ambitious practice.

Key responsibilities:

• Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
• Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £4m) including OMB’s, property investors, property developers, agricultural, retail etc.
• Preparation of corporation tax returns
• Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts
• Finalising accounts under the overall supervision of Director
• Organisation of own workflow, allocation of assignments, management of time as necessary, ensuring completion within agreed time and budget
• Liaison with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers etc.)
• Development and maintenance of effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required
• Resolution of ongoing client queries, escalating as necessary
• Involvement in ad-hoc client projects

Skills, Experience and Attributes required

• Experience of working in an accountancy practice
• Up to date FRS 102 & 105 accounts knowledge with VAT, corporate and personal tax knowledge
• Possesses client focused approach with proven experience of building and maintaining excellent client relationships
• Experience of working with a range of clients, ideally including corporates, property agricultural and retail clients
• Acute sense of fine detail and the ability to analyse and solve complex accounting queries in a commercial manner
• Excellent technology skills, including familiarity with Excel, Xero, SAGE, IRIS, Quickbooks and FreeAgent
• Ability to deliver to tight deadlines and flexible in approach
